In the Sea
A bright red insect an inch in length
lies dead and half
submerged
gently tossing in the last longing ripples
of the edge of a now
quiet sea
in a tropical land
shortly before nightfall.
The earth is
a little world
in a sea of space
like a silver minnow swimming
in the
company, near or far,
of a billion other fishes,
some lonely,
maybe,
others not.
